The lanky man strolled into the police HQ. Tipping his hat to the chief, he continued into his office. A beautiful woman sat leisurely in front of one of the computers next to his desk, one leg crossed over the other. Her golden detective's badge gleamed and the letters of her name, Rebecca Glice, stood out in the light.

"Hey, Bec," he greeted her. "Anyone die yet?"

Rebecca glanced over the computer. "That's a horrible thing to ask, Chad West."

"Hey, you're the murder cop. I'm just one of the investigation officers."

The girl detective rolled her eyes. "Right. Why aren't you on your mission yet?"

Chad sighed, sitting heavily in the seat next to her. "Oh, I just decided to catch some bad guys."

Rebecca's eyes narrowed. "You were sleeping in the medical lab again weren't you? I still don't know how you can fall asleep in that morgue."

Chad grinned cheekily. "It's not that hard when a monotonous doctor is talking you to sleep."

"Ugh, you are such a liar! The doctors are all off today, smart one."

"Hey," he held up his hands. "I'm trying to be an undercover cop. Aren't I supposed to be a liar?"

"It's your first undercover mission. You only lie to the people you're tricking," she retorted. "So what name are you going to go by? Did you do Gilligan Glitz or William Whiplash? Unless you finally decide to be serious for once… Ever since I've know you, Chad, you've always been joking around."

The undercover cop snorted. "I wouldn't use those awful names! You know that."

"You use them for me," Rebecca gave him a small smile.

"That's because I know it annoys you."

"Uh huh. Alright, in all seriousness, what'd are you going to use?"

"Well, since your names were completely crazy, I used a normal one. What do you think of Alexander Arcade!"

Rebecca raised her eyebrows. "Arcade? Like, the place where my kids spend to much time at?"

"Yeah! Awesome right?" Chad waved his hands expressively.

Rebecca gave a tiny nod, trying desperately not to laugh. Chad pumped his fist into the air and then scampered off, whistling. Rebecca shook her head and sighed, saying softly to herself, "He is so fired."
This is the first story (write about a lie) I wrote for my sister's 83 Short Story Collection thing - hope she likes it! She's already written three so I have a lot of catching up to do...
